Atletico finalize capture of Lee from Paris Saint-Germain, Khusanov agrees City contract extension

South Korea international Kang-In Lee has made the switch to Atletico Madrid from reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain, as announced by the Spanish club on Saturday, with the player signing a contract that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2031.

According to Atletico Madrid, the agreement with Paris Saint-Germain has been finalized, and they have described Lee as a talented left-footed midfielder who can operate in various roles, boasting exceptional vision, ball control, and passing and shooting abilities.

The transfer fee remains undisclosed by the clubs, but a source close to the negotiations has revealed that it is approximately 40 million euros, which is equivalent to $45.5 million, excluding any potential bonuses.

Paris Saint-Germain has expressed their gratitude to Lee, who initially joined the club from Valencia in 2023, and went on to score 16 goals in 124 appearances, while collecting an impressive 12 trophies during his tenure.

However, Lee's playing time was limited under the management of Luis Enrique, and he suffered a thigh injury in January, which further restricted his involvement, and he was an unused substitute in the last two Champions League finals won by PSG.

Lee's arrival at Atletico Madrid marks the club's third summer signing, following the additions of Danish midfielder Morten Hjulmand and Spanish full-back Alejandro Grimaldo, while club stalwart Antoine Griezmann has departed for Orlando City in Major League Soccer.

On the international stage, Lee has made 50 appearances for South Korea, with his most recent outing being during the World Cup, where the team was eliminated in the group stage.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain has also sold fellow attacker Goncalo Ramos to AC Milan, and the club is reportedly engaged in talks with Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche and RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande, according to sources.

Abdukodir Khusanov, the Manchester City defender, has signed a five-year contract extension with the Premier League club, which will see him remain at the club until 2031.

Khusanov played a significant role in Manchester City's successful campaign last season, helping the team win the FA Cup and League Cup, while also finishing as runners-up in the Premier League, and he has been capped 30 times for Uzbekistan, featuring in all three of their Group K matches at the World Cup.

The 22-year-old centre-back expressed his delight at extending his stay at Manchester City, stating that he has enjoyed every moment since joining the club from French side Lens in January 2025, and is eager to continue growing and learning as a player.
