Atiku applauds ADC's democratic nomination process, saying it's here to last.

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria and a presidential aspirant under the African Democratic Congress, believes that democracy has become deeply ingrained in Nigeria, as evidenced by the party's recent nationwide primary elections.

His statement, which was released by the Atiku Media Office and shared on X on Monday, came after he cast his vote at the Ajiya Ward Polling Unit in Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State.

The ADC presidential primary was conducted simultaneously across 8,809 wards in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, marking a significant milestone in the country's democratic process.

Atiku addressed his supporters, interpreting the large voter turnout as a clear sign of the party members' enthusiasm for participating in the ADC's internal democratic processes.

According to Atiku, "The large turnout of voters is a clear indication of how party members are willing to participate in the ADC internal democratic processes", and he expressed confidence that democracy has become an enduring part of Nigeria's landscape, stating "I have no doubt that democracy has come to stay".

As Atiku cast his vote, he was greeted with cheers from party faithful who had gathered at the polling unit, creating a lively atmosphere.

Voting began shortly after his arrival from Abuja, with Atiku being one of three aspirants in the running, alongside former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatudeen.

The returning officer, Hon. Umar Jada, had previously announced that Ajiya Ward had unanimously endorsed Atiku's candidacy, setting the stage for the voting process.

Ultimately, a total of 3,220 votes were cast in Atiku's favour, as announced at the conclusion of the process.
