Asa Sufferes Loss of Mother

Nigerian singer-songwriter Bukola Elemide, known to fans as Asa, has shared the news of her mother's passing after a sudden brain tumour diagnosis, in a heartfelt Instagram post on Tuesday.

Asa, 43, took to social media to pay tribute to her mother, describing her as "my reason to be, my queen, my everything" and revealing that the illness struck without warning, as she wrote "A sudden brain tumor came without warning and took you too soon".

In her emotional tribute, Asa remembered her mother as a "generous" and "kindest soul" with "her own quiet swag", also recalling her mother's sense of humour and shy nature, saying "You were extremely shy, and so funny, my biggest fan".

Asa fondly recalled her mother's unwavering support, despite not being able to sing, noting "You couldn’t hold a note to save your life, but you sang every one of my songs with your whole heart".

Asa ended her tribute with a poignant farewell, expressing both grief and gratitude, writing "Your strength, your love, your spirit will remain with me forever, Rest now, Mum", accompanied by a broken heart and dove emoji.

The post has sparked an outpouring of condolences from fans and fellow artists, including singer Tiwa Savage, who wrote "May her soul rest in perfect peace".
