Armed attacker takes own life following rampage that injures 16 at Turkish educational institution

In a rare incident of school violence in Turkey, a former student unleashed a barrage of gunfire at his old high school on Tuesday, leaving 16 people injured, including students, before taking his own life, according to officials.
nFollowing the shooting, elite security forces were swiftly deployed to the school, located in the southeastern province of Sanliurfa, where a large-scale evacuation of students was undertaken, as confirmed by the local governor, Hasan Sildak, in a statement to reporters.
nTelevision footage captured the chaos outside the school in the Siverek district, with ambulances on standby as panicked students fled the premises in a state of alarm.
nAccording to Governor Sildak, the perpetrator was a former student of the school, born in the year 2007, who ultimately succumbed to his own bullet wounds when cornered by the authorities.
nThe governor revealed that the attacker's life came to an end when he took his own life as police closed in on him, and further announced that a comprehensive investigation into the incident would be conducted after the school's evacuation was completed.
nLocal news outlets reported that the majority of those wounded in the shooting were students, with officials working to determine the full extent of the casualties.
