Aregbesola rejects speculation about rejoining APC

Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, has reiterated his dedication to the party, dispelling rumors of a potential return to the All Progressives Congress, his former party.

This declaration was made in Ilesa, Osun State, on Sunday, during a meeting of the ADC leadership and stakeholders, which drew attendees from all 332 wards in the state.

A statement issued by Oluwaseun Abosede, the Osun ADC publicity secretary-elect, revealed that Aregbesola introduced the party's governorship candidate for the Osun August 15 poll, Dr Najeem Salaam, to the gathering.

Aregbesola deemed claims of his planned return to the APC as "baseless and laughable", emphasizing that since his departure from the party over three years ago, he has had no reason to reconsider his decision.

He criticized the APC, stating that it has abandoned its founding vision and people-oriented principles, and neglected the primary essence of government, which is welfare and security.

Aregbesola reaffirmed his commitment to the ADC, noting that despite attempts to frustrate the party, it has experienced steady growth and achieved significant victories.

He urged ADC members and stakeholders to return to their respective wards and intensify grassroots mobilization efforts in preparation for the tasks ahead.

Aregbesola predicted a victorious outcome for the ADC in the 2027 polls and called for increased dedication to the party's cause from its members.

The Omoluabi Progressives, a political group led by Aregbesola, had previously announced its exit from the APC, citing reasons such as ostracism, suspension, and expulsion of members without fair hearing.

A statement issued by the group's Organising and Publicity Secretary, Oluwaseun Abosede, outlined the resolution to leave the APC, which was reached by stakeholders across the 332 wards in the state during the group's monthly meeting in Ilesa.

The statement also mentioned dissatisfaction with the party's handling of internal crises, which the group claimed contributed to the APC's poor performance in the last election cycle.
