Aregbesola pledges lifelong devotion, swears he has never been unfaithful to his spouse

Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, has made a personal declaration, stating that he has remained faithful to his wife, Sherifat, and has not engaged in any extramarital affairs since their marriage.

This statement was made by Aregbesola while addressing supporters at an ADC campaign rally in the Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State, as reported by Tribune Online on Monday, ahead of the upcoming governorship election on August 15.

Speaking in Yoruba, the former governor of Osun State attributed his faithfulness to a personal commitment he made to God, emphasizing the importance of his devotion to his faith.

Aregbesola expressed that his commitment to his wife is unwavering, and he has chosen to remain faithful despite the potential challenges, stating that only a few men can make such a claim.

In his words, Aregbesola said, "Oh Lord my God, if you are the one I am serving, and I did not add any other thing to it, what I am about to say, only a few men can say it: Because of your fear, I never had any intimacy with another woman since I married my wife."

Aregbesola further added, "I told God that next June, we must do it at the Government House," highlighting his aspirations for the future.

The declaration was made as political parties intensified their campaigns across Osun State in the lead-up to the Saturday governorship election.

The upcoming poll, scheduled to take place on August 15, 2026, will feature incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, who is seeking re-election, as well as the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and the ADC candidate, Najeem Folasayo Salaam.

The election will be held across all 30 local government areas of the state, with the candidates competing for the top position.
