APC's South-West chapter praises Ekiti electorate for re-electing Oyebanji

The All Progressives Congress in Nigeria's South-West geopolitical zone has praised the voters of Ekiti State for their impressive turnout in re-electing Governor Biodun Oyebanji to a second four-year term.

The party views the election outcome as a reflection of the Ekiti people's informed decision-making, consistently choosing what is in the best interest of their state and the country.

In a statement released in Ibadan on Monday, zonal Publicity Secretary Ayobami Afolabi described Governor Oyebanji's victory as unprecedented and a testament to the appreciation of Nigerians for the quality leadership provided by Oyebanji and President Bola Tinubu.

According to PUNCH Online, Oyebanji emerged as the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election held on Saturday, defeating candidates from approximately 13 registered political parties.

This victory makes Oyebanji the first sitting governor in Ekiti State to secure re-election, marking a significant milestone.

Ayobami Afolabi noted that about 90 per cent of the total votes cast across the 16 local government areas in Ekiti State went to the APC candidate, demonstrating the people's decision to maintain their support for the party.

The party has stated that it will not take the mandate for granted, and Governor Oyebanji and other elected officials have been challenged to intensify their efforts in delivering quality leadership and effective service delivery.

Afolabi looks ahead to the upcoming election in Osun State, which is expected to take place in less than two months, seeing it as an opportunity for voters to elect a governor they can be proud of.

Afolabi urged stakeholders in the South-West to revive the region's founding fathers' developmental ideals, drawing inspiration from the leadership philosophy of Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

He emphasized the need for the entire South-West region to rediscover the principles that positioned it above its peers in the 1950s and 60s under Chief Awolowo's leadership, ensuring that none of the six states are left behind.

Afolabi expressed gratitude to Ekiti voters for retaining the party in power and encouraged them to increase their support in future elections, particularly for the APC and President Bola Tinubu.

He believes that by doing so, the people of Ekiti State will receive greater benefits from democracy and leave a lasting legacy.
