APC Rejects Allegations of Forcing Candidate on Ondo Chapter Before Primaries

The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has issued a denial regarding allegations that it plans to impose candidates before the party's state and National Assembly primaries, which are set to take place later this month.

This denial comes in response to concerns expressed by a group within the party, specifically the One Voice Network for Tinubu, which claims that a list of preferred aspirants is being compiled for adoption as candidates in the 2027 elections.

The One Voice Network for Tinubu has warned that such a move could lead to divisions within the party and negatively impact its chances in the general election if not addressed properly.

In a statement released on Monday, the group's Public Relations Officer, Ige Jongbo, cautioned against any attempts to sideline party stakeholders during the candidate selection process.

The group alleges that certain aspirants are being favored without adequate consultation with party leaders and members across the state, and argues that a lack of transparency in the primaries could lead to internal disputes and anti-party activities.

The One Voice Network for Tinubu has called on the state and national leadership of the party to ensure a fair and credible primary process for all aspirants.

Reacting to these allegations, the state APC Director of Media and Publicity, Steve Otaloro, dismissed the claims, stating that the party has no intention of imposing candidates.

Otaloro assured that the party leadership, under Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, would provide a level playing field for all aspirants and ensure a transparent process.

Otaloro stated, “We assure all party members that the leadership of the party, under Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, will conduct a credible and transparent primary.”
