APC on edge as opposition parties gain momentum in election efforts, says ADC leader

The Niger State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Ahmed El-Waziri, has alleged that chieftains and supporters of the All Progressives Congress are jittery over the presence of opposition parties.

He said this explains why unknown persons were going about in the state capital pulling down billboards and posters of the ADC.

El-Waziri made this allegation at a media briefing in Minna where party faithful met to strategise ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He stressed that the ADC was ready to win the 2027 elections at both the state and federal levels of government and provide a viable alternative to the poor governance the APC was giving Nigerians.

“We were here on Tuesday. We were here on Wednesday, and by the grace of God, we’ll continue to be here until we have all what we want to win the 2027 elections,” El-Waziri said

He added, “We are a formidable alternatively to the present administration. We have the backing of everyone in this nation, especially the masses. The masses have seen what has been going on in terms of poverty, in terms of insecurity that has bedeviled the nation.

“Don’t you know that some of our billboards have been pulled down? Do you know the reason? Although, 19th of August is not yet here. By 19th of August, I repeat, by 19th August , nobody will ever say anything bad about ADC again. But if we do anything that is against the electoral act, we’ll be liable to punishment. This is why you have not seen us take off.

“You can remember when one of the principal officers in the presidency came out clearly and told somebody to go and fight ADC. So you don’t have to ask why is the federal government doing this or that. I told you that the ADC is so formidable, there is a lot of jittery from the federal government.

“The way they see the ADC waxing stronger explains why the federal government is doing what it has been doing and by the special grace of God this party is blessed and is the love of the people. You can see how people are trooping into this party despite the fact that there is a sitting government, El-Waziri said.

The ADC chairman maintained that the ruling APC at the national and state levels are unhappy with the speedy progress in the opposition parties, insisting that this explains its desperate efforts to destabilise the parties by introducing different types of legal issues whereby the judges give conflicting rulings.

“The party in government is not happy with the opposition parties and this is why you have seen the deceits from the ruling party against the opposition parties as a whole. You can see one of the parties will be in court today, and tomorrow, another will be there, and there will be different judgments given. That is why the judges even contradict themselves.

“For instance, when the Supreme Court says stay of action, the Federal High Court came out to give a different ruling against that,” he alleged.
