APC chieftain lauds Tunji-Ojo’s direct relief to Ondo flood victims

A leader of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Mr Omoyele Olabode, has commended the Minister for Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for the donation of cash to flood victims in the South Senatorial District of the state.

Following the flood incident which occurred in the senatorial district recently, displacing many residents of some of the communities in the six Local Government Areas, the minister donated some money to over 1,000 of the victims, under his Flood Relief Palliative Sponsored initiative.

It was reported that a former member of the House of Representatives, Mr Kolade Akinjo, who coordinated the disbursement of cash to the victims, said the intervention was aimed at cushioning the economic impact of the floods on the victims and providing direct financial assistance to households struggling to recover from the disaster.

Olajide, in a statement issued on Thursday, said the distribution of cash transfers by the minister brought succour to victims and their households in the affected communities.

According to the APC chieftain, the minister’s intervention hit at the core of meeting the people’s challenge at a trying time.

He said, “This is a reflection of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the minister’s commitment to grassroots welfare across Ondo State. I salute and commend Dr Bunmi Tunji-Ojo for rising to the occasion at this critical time.

“The cash transfers have gone a long way in easing the pain of our people in Ondo South. It shows a leader who feels the pulse of his people and acts without delay.

“Such people-oriented initiatives will deepen public trust in the government, and strengthen the bond between the centre and the people of the Niger Delta coastal communities.”

Olabode urged other political leaders and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the minister’s gesture by supporting victims as the government intensifies efforts on long-term flood control and drainage projects in the area.

He also noted that while the victims look forward to the National Emergency Management Agency’s inputs and palliative as promised, “the support from BTO has come in handy and this is very commendable.”
