Apapa Customs Posts N323 Billion in Revenue for July

The Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command, has announced a record-breaking revenue collection of N323bn in July 2026, marking the highest monthly figure ever achieved by the command.

This milestone was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller, Emmanuel Oshoba, during a monthly meeting with Deputy Comptrollers of Terminals and Unit Heads, as revealed by the command's Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Isah, in a statement on Saturday.

The command's revenue collection has seen significant growth, with the previous record being N304bn in October 2025, underscoring the effective leadership of Emmanuel Oshoba, who has guided the command to achieve strong results.

Oshoba attributed the record collection to the combined impact of policy support, operational reforms, and improved compliance across the command, highlighting the commitment of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the service management team to the modernisation of the NCS.

The management team's introduction of innovations has streamlined activities and provided clear direction, according to Oshoba, who commended the Comptroller-General's devotion to the modernisation project.

The reforms have already delivered measurable results, with the improved performance of the B'Odogwu system and the One-Stop Shop initiative being notable examples, as they have accelerated cargo delivery time and created a more predictable business environment.

The Authorised Economic Operator framework has also had a positive impact, with over 200 beneficiaries, and has contributed to the command's revenue profile, Oshoba added.

Intelligence-driven enforcement operations have strengthened compliance, with officers and men of the command intensifying interventions to detect false declarations and ensure compliance with service valuation principles to protect national revenue.

Oshoba commended the enabling business environment created by President Bola Tinubu, particularly the relative stability in the foreign exchange market, which has allowed business operators to plan better and conduct trade with greater confidence.

He challenged officers to examine their individual contributions beyond routine revenue generation, asking them to consider what they have added in terms of intervention and what they can do to make a positive impact.

Oshoba stressed the importance of trade facilitation and ease of doing business, describing the current operating environment as more predictable and conducive to growth, and directed that disputes should be resolved promptly and properly documented.

He issued a clear directive on stakeholder relations, instructing officers to ensure that stakeholders leave their office with hope rather than despair, and to provide people with hope and a positive experience.

Oshoba acknowledged the valuable cooperation of stakeholders and sister agencies, noting that their support has improved compliance and restored greater sanity to the business environment, and urged officers to continue building trust through professionalism, respect, and collaboration.

He called on personnel to uphold transparency and discipline, work smart, remain up to date with evolving digital processes, and consult more experienced colleagues when necessary, describing effective leadership as a collective responsibility.

Oshoba urged Staff Officers to support Deputy Controllers in reinforcing discipline and fostering a healthy work environment rooted in compassion, empathy, teamwork, and genuine concern for the welfare of subordinates.

He called for heightened security consciousness, proper supervision, continuous in-house training, and full compliance with approved procedures, charging all units to sustain the current momentum and remain focused on productivity and service delivery.

Oshoba commended officers of the Command and compliant stakeholders for the achievement, advising them to see it as a stepping stone to further breakthroughs to be achieved as the year 2026 winds down.
