Anambra trainee and partner charged with murdering boss using a kitchen tool

The Anambra State Police Command has taken an apprentice and an accomplice to court over the alleged murder of Ikechukwu Nwite, the apprentice's employer, as well as the theft of millions of naira that belonged to the deceased.

Chiemerie Anieke, the main suspect, allegedly used a pestle to kill his employer during a heated argument on February 16 in Fegge, Onitsha.

The incident is said to have occurred after Ikechukwu Nwite confronted Chiemerie Anieke about allegedly stealing money and using drugs.

On Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, released a statement saying that on March 18, 2026, the State Criminal Investigation Department successfully arraigned the two suspects before the High Court in Onitsha.

The statement from SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that the suspects were arraigned in connection with the murder of Ikechukwu Simon Nwite and the subsequent theft of his funds on March 18, 2026.

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the second suspect, Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo, 21, allegedly helped with the crime by providing a bank account that was used to transfer over N8m belonging to the deceased.

Chiemerie Anieke, 21, allegedly struck his employer on the head with a pestle, resulting in his death, and was arraigned alongside Godwin Nnabuike Nwokporo, who allegedly provided the bank account used to transfer over N8,000,000.

The police recovered N6m from the suspects, which is part of the stolen funds and has been presented as evidence in court, according to the police spokesperson.

The suspects have been remanded in a correctional facility pending further proceedings, and the Anambra State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice is served.

The police command has also warned individuals against engaging in criminal activities, stating that the law will always catch up with offenders, as stated in the release.
