Amotekun rescues eight kidnap victims in Ondo forest

‎Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, have rescued eight persons abducted by suspected kidnappers in different communities in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.

‎The victims, including a teacher and a pastor, were rescued during an operation carried out by Amotekun personnel in a forest hideout used by the kidnappers.‎

n‎The Commander of the corps, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Thursday while speaking at the agency’s headquarters in Akure.n

According to him, the operatives acted on intelligence, tracked the kidnappers to their location and engaged them in a gun battle.

“Following the exchange of fire, the criminals were forced to flee, enabling the security operatives to secure the release of all eight victims,” he said.

He added that the victims were rescued without the payment of any ransom.

‎“Not a kobo was paid as ransom. Through technology, intelligence gathering, and strategic operations, we were able to locate the kidnappers deep inside the forest and secure the release of all the victims professionally without causing harm to them,” he said.

Adeleye commended the operatives involved in the operation and said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

He added that the rescued victims had been reunited with their families, while security had been strengthened in the affected communities to prevent further attacks.

It was gathered that the kidnappers had demanded ransom from the families of the victims before the rescue operation.
