American forces fatally engage multiple suspects on suspected drug-smuggling boat in Caribbean waters

A US military operation was conducted on Wednesday in the Caribbean Sea, targeting a vessel suspected of narco-trafficking activities, resulting in the deaths of four individuals on board, as confirmed by officials.

According to a statement released by US Southern Command, or Southcom, on the social media platform X, the vessel in question was navigating along established narco-trafficking routes in the Caribbean and was reportedly engaged in narco-trafficking operations.

The United States initiated its campaign against alleged smuggling boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific Ocean in early September, and the most recent strike has brought the total death toll to at least 163.

The administration of US President Donald Trump has emphasized that the country is essentially at war with what the president refers to as "narco-terrorists" operating in Latin America.
