Their spots were secured after emerging victorious in their respective Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals, with Algeria overcoming Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 and Morocco defeating South Africa by the same scoreline.

For Algeria, this qualification marks a historic milestone, as they will be making their debut appearance at the global tournament, having successfully come from behind to win their quarter-final match.

According to established rules, Algeria and Morocco earned automatic qualification by advancing to the WAFCON semi-finals, and they will be joined by two more African nations at the 2027 World Cup.

The remaining WAFCON quarter-finals will determine the next two qualified teams, with Cameroon set to face Nigeria and Malawi scheduled to take on Ghana on Sunday, and the winners of these matches will automatically secure World Cup qualification.

The losing quarter-finalists, Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa, still have a chance to qualify through the FIFA Play-Off Tournament, with the two teams meeting in a play-off match on August 13.
