Adeleke calls urgent gathering of top security officials

On Monday, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke announced the convening of an emergency security council meeting to tackle the recent surge in attacks within the state, specifically highlighting the destruction of public properties by suspected All Progressives Congress thugs.

The meeting, which was scheduled to take place at the Governor's Office, aimed to bring together all service commanders to devise a strategy for combating the menace of thuggery perpetrated by APC hoodlums, according to a statement released by the governor's spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

As stated by Governor Adeleke, the emergency meeting was summoned to address a matter of urgent public importance, questioning the inaction of law enforcement agents in preventing attacks on public properties and the failure to make arrests.

The governor emphasized the need for the security council to develop a containment strategy to prevent future occurrences, underscoring the importance of maintaining public confidence in the security agencies.

Prior to the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, political tensions escalated on Friday as the All Progressives Congress and the Accord Party traded accusations over the destruction of campaign billboards across various parts of the state.

The Imole Campaign Council, which is leading Governor Adeleke's re-election bid, accused APC-affiliated hoodlums of vandalizing campaign billboards belonging to the governor's campaign organization and the Accord Party.

In response, Oluremi Omowaiye, the Head of Media and Publicity Committee of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, dismissed the allegations as false and politically motivated.
