Adelabu announces bid for Oyo state governor, reveals comprehensive development plan

Chief Adebayo Adelabu, a former Minister of Power and current All Progressive Congress governorship aspirant in Oyo State, has unveiled a "Rebirth Agenda" that he promises to implement if elected in the 2027 general election.

This pledge was made on Tuesday in Ibadan, where Adelabu formally declared his intention to run for the governorship position, vowing to revitalize the state's economy and create a multitude of jobs.

The former Minister of Power described his declaration as the beginning of a movement aimed at restoring, rebuilding, repositioning, and reclaiming Oyo State for the purpose of achieving genuine progress, prosperity, and people-centred governance.

Adelabu's development blueprint, dubbed the "Oyo Rebirth Agenda," will focus on effective local government administration, grassroots development, modern security architecture, and an agricultural revolution, among other key areas.

He further outlined that his agenda will prioritize comprehensive social welfare, education reform, health transformation, urban development, civil service reforms, and women's empowerment, should he be given the opportunity to lead.

Adelabu emphasized that he is contesting the election because he believes governance should yield tangible development, and that capacity, competence, character, compassion, and courage are essential for a better Oyo State.

With humility and a sense of duty, he formally announced his intention to run for the office of the governor of Oyo State in the 2027 general elections under the APC banner.

Adelabu urged the APC in Oyo State to remain united, as unity is crucial for the party's victory in the forthcoming elections, and called for party supremacy, discipline, and shared victory to take precedence over individual ambition.

He stressed that progress and victory are contingent upon unity and solidarity, and appealed to all APC leaders, aspirants, stakeholders, and members to work together towards a common goal.

Adelabu presented himself as a prepared leader, rather than a perfect one, and as a servant committed to delivering results, rather than merely a politician or aspirant.

The declaration event featured goodwill messages from various support groups and party chieftains, as well as the unveiling of the "Oyo Rebirth Agenda" development plan, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
