ADC will win Osun guber poll – Salaam

The candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, Najeem Salaam, has expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the forthcoming poll.

He also assured residents of responsible and quality leadership anchored on progressive ideals if elected.

Salaam made this known while addressing party members and supporters during the Ejigbo Local Government ADC general meeting held in Ejigbo, Osun State.

In a statement made available to Sunday PUNCH on Saturday, the ADC candidate, who was accompanied by his running mate, Temitope Agiri, appealed to party members and residents of Osun State to continue supporting the ADC and remain steadfast in the collective mission of “rescuing the state” through purposeful governance and people-oriented leadership.

He described the ADC as the most credible alternative capable of delivering development to Osun State and Nigeria at large.

“Our party enjoys widespread acceptance, love, and solidarity among the good people of Osun. I want to assure you that God is on our side, and with the overwhelming support we continue to receive across the state, we are in a strong position to emerge victorious in the election.

“This is a structured party founded on progressive ideals. We are determined to restore the sanctity and dignity of issue-based campaigns devoid of hatred and rancour, which will, in turn, renew the people’s confidence in democracy and good governance,” Salaam added.

While reaffirming that the ADC remains the party to beat in the 2026 governorship race, Salaam assured that the party would not betray the trust of the people if elected into office.

Earlier in his remarks, the Ejigbo Local Government Chairman of the ADC, Ganiyu Abeni, reaffirmed the readiness, unity and commitment of the party in the area, saying its structure remained formidable and fully prepared to deliver victory.

Also speaking, the Osun ADC State Chairman, Isa Adesiji, said Salaam’s emergence as the party’s governorship candidate was based on competence, character and humility. He urged voters across the state to support the party.

Electorate in Osun will go to the poll on August 15 to elect a governor. Aside from Salaam of the ADC, the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord, while the ex-Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Bola Oyebamiji, is also in the race as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress.
