Adamawa's newly constructed NYSC facility is set to welcome the upcoming group of corps members, according to Governor Fintiri

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has assured that the state’s new permanent National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp will be ready for the next batch of youth corps members.

He gave the assurance at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch B, Stream II youth corps members in Damare, Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa on Friday.

Represented by the Chief of Staff, Dr Edgar Amos, the governor said construction of the permanent orientation camp had reached advanced stage, expressing confidence that subsequent batches would commence their orientation at the facility.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of youth corps members, assuring them continued payment of the N30,000 monthly allowance to those serving in the state.

According to him, the state government will continue to support the NYSC scheme, recognising the contribution of members to education, healthcare, agriculture and other sectors.

Fintiri urged the corps members to obey the laws of the land and respect the customs and traditions of their host communities.

He also encouraged them to promote peaceful coexistence and make positive contributions to the development of communities where they were posted.

Mr Wali Yakubu, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Chairman of the Adamawa NYSC Governing Board, congratulated members on their successful mobilisation.

Yakubu urged them to participate actively in all camp activities and embrace unity in diversity by building relationships across cultural and religious backgrounds.

He also encouraged the corps members to undertake community development projects that would improve the lives of residents in their host communities.

He assured them of the state government’s continued support and commitment to providing safe and conducive environment throughout the service year.

Earlier, the Adamawa NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Caroline Chinedu, said 1,520 youth corps members had registered for the 2026 Batch B, Stream II orientation exercise.

She said the figure comprised 779 males and 741 females, adding that the corps members had demonstrated discipline and enthusiasm since the commencement of the exercise.

Chinedu, however, appealed to the state government to urgently address the electricity challenge at the orientation camp.

She said reliance on generators had affected water supply, sanitation and other essential services at the camp.

Justice Abbas Adamu, representing the Chief Judge of Adamawa, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, administered the oath of allegiance to the corps members.
