Actor Deyemi Okanlawon Reveals He Abandoned His Acting Career Two Years Ago Due to Low Wages and Unfulfilling Roles

Deyemi Okanlawon, a Nollywood actor, has come forward to reveal that his decision to quit acting in 2019 stemmed from his dissatisfaction with the compensation and the lack of fulfillment he derived from his work.

During a recent appearance on the CreativiTea podcast, which started trending on Wednesday, Okanlawon opened up about his career and the factors that led him to leave the movie industry.

Okanlawon's frustration with the quality of work and the financial rewards it provided ultimately led him to make the decision to exit the industry, as he felt that settling for mediocre work was not an option after leaving a corporate career.

In his own words, Okanlawon stated, "So, I quit acting in 2019, I quit because the pay was nonsense, the work was nonsense, and I just felt like I didn’t leave 9-to-5 work to come and do mediocre work."

The lack of fulfillment, according to Okanlawon, made it challenging for him to remain motivated and find the drive to continue in the industry.

He further explained that the absence of fulfillment made it difficult to muster the enthusiasm to go to work, questioning the point of being passionate about something that does not bring fulfillment.

Okanlawon ultimately decided to quit and return to a 9-to-5 job, as he found it more rewarding and fulfilling than his acting career.
