Abia State Traditional Rulers Throw Weight Behind Otti's Bid for Second Term

Members of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers have unanimously endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office come 2027.

The Chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Dr Linus Nto Mbah, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen after a closed-door meeting between a delegation of council members and the governor at Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of the state, on Tuesday.

He said that in less than three years in office, Otti has performed creditably in various sectors of the economy, adding that he has redefined governance in Abia State.

The monarch assured the governor that since his predecessors—both those who performed well and those who did not—each served eight-year terms, he too would complete his eight years in office, especially as he had done exceptionally well.

He said, “We want to encourage him. Come 2027, all traditional rulers are behind him.

n

“Other governors did eight years each, whether they did well or not; why should it be his own that people would come to say that he should take four years and leave.

n

“Abia State Traditional Rulers Council says no, it will never happen. We will support him. We will give him 100 per cent support. We will make sure in 2027, Dr Alex Otti, Chioma Ndị Abia will be re-elected.”

Eze Nto Mbah said the visit was to formally thank the governor for his good works in the state and to encourage him to do more for the people.

The monarch described the projects executed by the Otti administration under the New Abia agenda as laudable.

“You would see roads, so many roads. We have decided to come and say, ‘Governor, thank you, we have seen what you are doing, keep it up.’

“Abia State traditional rulers are very, very happy. We are very grateful to him,” he stated.

The 1st Deputy Chairman of the council, Eze Nelson Nmerengwa; the 2nd Deputy Chairman, Eze Franklyn Nwosu; and the 3rd Deputy Chairman, Eze Uwakwe Ukaegbu, among many others, were present at the meeting.
