Abia State Governor Gives Green Light for Reimbursement of Nollywood Star Ngozi Nwosu's Hospital Expenses

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has given his approval for the payment of the initial phase of medical expenses for renowned Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu, who had made a public plea for financial aid to undergo three critical surgeries.

The governor's decision was made public by his Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Justice, in a post on X on Tuesday, in which he announced the governor's intervention in Nwosu's health issues.

Martins Justice took to social media to express his gratitude, stating that Governor Alex Otti had "just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs Ngozi Nwosu to approve the first part of her medical bills."

However, Justice clarified that the governor's intervention only covered a portion of the required medical expenses, and he appealed to Nigerians to continue providing support to the actress, saying "While we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, we still appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians to please support her in any way possible you can."

Martins Justice also extended his thanks to the governor on behalf of the creative industry, writing "On behalf of the creative industry, we all thank you immensely, my leader, Ndewo sir."

Prior to the governor's intervention, PUNCH Online had reported that the 62-year-old actress had made a public appeal to Nigerians to help her raise ₦30 million for three urgent surgeries, revealing that she had been hospitalized for three weeks and could no longer afford the cost of her treatment.

In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page, Nwosu pleaded with her fans, family, and colleagues not to abandon her, saying "My people, my fans and my family, I know that you’ve not seen me in circulation for some time, I’ve been hospitalised now for three weeks."

Nwosu expressed her desperation, stating "Please, the thing has gone beyond my control, I need your help, don’t let me die, I know that you people never forsake me… I’m begging you, my fans and family, don’t let me die because I am going through a lot, as in pain."

The actress disclosed that she required three surgeries and urged those wishing to support her treatment to contact her management, in the hopes of receiving the necessary aid to undergo the life-saving procedures.
