Abia State Governor Covers Ailing Veteran Actress Ngozi Nwosu's N25 Million Medical Expenses

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has made good on his promise to support veteran Nollywood actress, Ngozi Nwosu, with a ₦25 million payment to the hospital where she is receiving treatment, thereby fulfilling his pledge to assist with her medical expenses.

The payment was announced by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Justice, in a post shared on X on Thursday, revealing that the funds were transferred to the hospital's account before the close of work on Wednesday.

Martins Justice expressed his gratitude to the governor, stating that "Yesterday before the close of work, His Excellency @alexottiofr, our pragmatic leader, made good his promise, directing a ₦25m payment to the hospital’s account where our Nollywood legendary actress, Mrs Ngozi Nwosu, is receiving treatment.

He further thanked the governor, saying "We thank you immensely for your support and kindness of heart, sir, History will be kind to you,” in appreciation of the governor's timely intervention.

The payment comes a day after the Abia State Government announced that the governor had approved the first phase of Nwosu’s medical expenses, following her emotional appeal for financial assistance to undergo three life-saving surgeries.

Prior to the governor's intervention, PUNCH Online had reported that the 62-year-old actress had disclosed in a video shared on her Instagram page that she had been hospitalised for three weeks and urgently needed ₦30 million to undergo three surgeries.

In the video, Ngozi Nwosu appealed to her fans, family, and colleagues, saying "My people, my fans and my family, I know that you’ve not seen me in circulation for some time, I’ve been hospitalised now for three weeks, Please, the thing has gone beyond my control,”.

She further pleaded for help, saying "I need your help, Don’t let me die, I know that you people never forsake me… I’m begging you, my fans and family, don’t let me die because I am going through a lot, as in pain,” as she struggled to cope with the financial burden of her healthcare.

The actress had also appealed to fans, colleagues, and well-wishers to support her treatment through her management, as she could no longer bear the cost of her medical expenses alone.

The governor’s intervention has since drawn commendation from fans and members of the entertainment industry, who have praised Alex Otti's kindness and support for the ailing actress.
