Abia remains unfazed by Kalu's presidential aspirations, says Labour Party

The Labour Party in Abia State has made it clear that the state government is not bothered about the potential plans of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, whether he intends to run for governor in 2027 or seek re-election to the House of Representatives.

This stance was conveyed through a statement issued on Saturday by the party's Publicity Secretary, Iroegbu Emenike, who emphasized that Governor Alex Otti is fully focused on governance and development initiatives.

According to the statement, Governor Otti is prioritizing the rebuilding of critical infrastructure, repositioning the economy, restoring confidence in public institutions, and improving the lives of Abians, leaving no time to discuss individuals with unclear political ambitions.

The Labour Party expressed surprise that the APC in Abia State continues to involve Governor Otti in every conversation, as if their own political relevance depends solely on mentioning his name.

The party asserted that Governor Alex Otti's performance has set the standard for governance in Abia State, causing the opposition to lose sleep over this reality.

The statement was in response to a press release signed by Mr. Uche Aguoru, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Abia State, regarding issues related to the deputy speaker.

The Labour Party noted that it would not normally dignify such a publication with a response, but felt compelled to advise the Abia APC to stop using Governor Alex C. Otti's name to drive their political narratives and anxieties.

The party believes it is unnecessary to engage in debates over endorsements or speculations created by opposition elements seeking attention, as Governor Otti's growing acceptance is rooted in his visible performance and prudent leadership.

The Labour Party advised the APC in the state to focus on rebuilding their party, developing alternative policies, and addressing member concerns, rather than constantly involving Governor Otti in their political insecurities.

The Abia LP added that the people of Abia State are politically aware and can distinguish between propaganda and actual performance, implying that they will not be swayed by the APC's tactics.
