Abia academy partners Pan-Atlantic varsity to train young leaders

The Abia State Leadership Academy says it has entered into a strategic partnership with the Enterprise Development Centre of Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, to strengthen the quality and impact of its leadership development programmes.

The President of the academy, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, disclosed this to journalists in Umuahia on Saturday, saying the collaboration would see the academy work closely with the Enterprise Development Centre in curriculum development and delivery, programme facilitation, and certification for all its training programmes.

Kalu revealed that the Academy, established by Governor Alex Otti to instil the ideals of service, civic responsibility, value creation and excellence among young people, recorded a major milestone in 2025 when it successfully organised its maiden Youth Leadership Boot Camp for more than 1,000 youths.

He further noted that the Enterprise Development Centre of Pan-Atlantic University, founded in 2003, is one of Africa’s leading institutions for entrepreneurship and enterprise development and has, over the years, partnered with renowned international organisations to deliver high-impact capacity-building programmes that empower individuals and organisations.

Kalu described the collaboration as “a landmark strategic partnership with EDC,” adding, “this collaboration marks a significant milestone in the Academy’s mission to establish itself as a foremost institution for raising ethical, innovative, and transformational leaders.”

He added, “Established as a special initiative of the Gov. Alex Otti administration, ASLA is dedicated to instilling the ideals of service, civic responsibility, and excellence among young people, public officials, and entrepreneurs. By aligning with the EDC, we are ensuring that our participants receive world-class mentorship and training.

“This partnership will further enrich our offerings, enabling our alumni to lead with the courage, integrity, and service-orientation required to drive long-term sustainable development in Abia State and beyond.”

The Academy also announced that its 2026 Youth Leadership Boot Camp will commence early next month.

Applicants who scored 50 per cent and above have been advised to log on to the academy’s online portal to download their admission letters and other relevant documents.

The month-long leadership boot camp will culminate in a grand graduation ceremony scheduled for the end of next month in Umuahia, where successful participants will be inducted.
