27-year-old man arrested for defiling teenager in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Solomon Onaola, over the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl in Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.

According to Jimoh, the case was initially reported at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station before being transferred to the Gender Based Offences Unit for discreet investigation.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that on 2nd August 2026, the guardian of the victim reported at the police station that the 15-year-old girl, who was working as a domestic help in her household, had on several occasions left home without permission.

“According to the report, when the girl was questioned about where she usually went whenever she left home, she allegedly disclosed that the suspect, Solomon Onaola, had been taking her to his late mother’s residence in Omifon, where he allegedly engaged in unlawful sexual intercourse with her.

“Following the report, police operatives commenced investigation and subsequently arrested the suspect.

“The victim has also been placed under appropriate care, and necessary steps are being taken in accordance with established procedures for cases involving alleged sexual offences against minors,” the statement read.

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Felix Ohagwu, directed the Gender Based Offences Unit to conduct a thorough and professional investigation to establish the facts of the case and ensure justice.

The command reiterated its commitment to protecting children and other vulnerable members of society from sexual exploitation, abuse and other forms of violence.

It urged parents, guardians and members of the public to remain vigilant, pay close attention to the welfare of children under their care and promptly report suspected cases of abuse to the police.

The suspect remains in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, the command said.

PUNCH Metro earlier reported in April 2026 that the Ondo State Police Command arrested a 23-year-old man, Emmanuel Usman, for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl in Ijebu-Owo, Owo Local Government Area of the state.

The police said the suspect allegedly dragged the girl into his employer’s office and had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.

He was arrested after the girl reported the incident, while the case was transferred to the command’s Gender-Based Violence Unit for investigation.
