2027: Wike predicts bigger rainbow coalition for Tinubu

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said a larger national “rainbow coalition” will soon emerge to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.

Wike made the assertion on Friday during an inspection exercise in Abuja, while commenting on the recent visit of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

The FCT minister said Adeleke’s visit was part of the ongoing political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.

He added that Adeleke’s emergence on the Accord Party platform during the August 15 Osun governorship election was due to internal wranglings within the Peoples Democratic Party.

According to Wike, despite contesting on the Accord platform, Adeleke remains deeply rooted in the PDP structure and has now aligned with Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Wike maintained that the crises within major opposition parties had weakened their ability to mount a formidable challenge against the President in 2027.

He said opposition figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, were being kept off-balance by the ongoing political realignments.

The minister said he was not concerned about the discomfort the developments might cause political opponents, adding that further realignments were expected in the coming weeks.

Wike said the emerging coalition would continue to attract political figures from different parties and regions, insisting that the outcome of the 2027 presidential election was already taking shape in favour of Tinubu.

He maintained that the internal crises in the opposition had effectively weakened the major opposition parties, leaving no cohesive political force capable of challenging the President.

Wike added that the coming weeks would reveal further movement of political figures across party lines as the 2027 election approaches.
