2027: Wadada Makes Amends and Appeals for Backing in Nasarawa State Governorship Contest

Senator Ahmed Wadada, the preferred governorship aspirant of Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, has made a heartfelt appeal for forgiveness to the people of Nasarawa State and members of the All Progressives Congress as he ramps up consultations ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wadada's plea was made during a meeting with party stakeholders and supporters at the Nasarawa State Lodge in Abuja on Tuesday, shortly before he submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms, emphasizing the importance of forgiveness in achieving unity and success.

He expressed gratitude for the widespread support he has received across the state, pledging not to take it for granted, and also thanked Governor Sule for his endorsement, which he described as a demonstration of trust and commitment to party unity.

Wadada commended other aspirants who stepped aside following the governor's endorsement, saying "To my fellow aspirants who have supported what the governor has decided, I cannot thank you enough, may God reward you abundantly".

He also acknowledged the roles of key party stakeholders, including the state APC Chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, and other leaders, in strengthening the party, recognizing their contributions to its growth.

A chieftain of the APC in the state, Dr Ahmed Mohammed Musa, urged party members to remain united and accept Wadada's emergence, stating "While all aspirants are qualified, Wadada's emergence should be seen as the will of God", and called for collective support.

Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, also urged residents to rally behind the aspirant, saying "Supporting Senator Wadada would ensure continuity of the governor's developmental strides".

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, expressed confidence in Wadada's chances, citing the administration's popularity and its positive impact on the state.

After submitting his forms, Wadada told journalists that all 13 local government chairmen in the state had endorsed his bid, saying "The entire 13 local government chairmen of Nasarawa State are here, the entire legislature of Nasarawa State, from the Speaker, principal officers and members of the state assembly are here".

Wadada outlined his economic vision, highlighting Nasarawa's proximity to the Federal Capital Territory as a key advantage, stating "Nasarawa State is the closest state to the FCT, our proximity is an asset to us and we shall leverage on it".

He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, linking increased federal allocations to recent economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies, and urged Nigerians to support the administration's policies.
