2027: Say no to political violence, Olubadan charges youths

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has charged Nigerian youths to eschew bitterness and political violence as the 2027 general elections draw nearer.

Olubadan gave the advice while receiving students from the Leadership Centre, University of Abuja, at his palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area of the state, on Wednesday.

This was contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Gbenga Ayoade, in Ibadan, the state capital, on Thursday.

Speaking through the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, Olubadan further urged Nigerian youths, especially students, to play their expected roles in nation-building.

He said, “I want to advise you to refuse to be used as political thugs or election riggers so that you will be able to fulfil your destiny as future leaders of our dear country, Nigeria.

“Let me also use this occasion to advise you, Nigerian youths, to eschew bitterness and political violence as the 2027 general elections draw nearer.”

Olubadan further admonished them to avail themselves of the opportunity of being in Ibadan by visiting some tourist centres in the ancient city, such as the University of Ibadan, Cocoa House and Bowers Tower, among others.

Earlier, the leader of the team, Prof Abdulhamid Suleiman, said they were at the palace to receive royal blessings and interact with the youths, particularly students, on how to become good leaders and understand the need for good leadership.

Abdulhamid said, “The visit would give the team more knowledge of Ibadanland, being the capital of the then Western Region, home of the first developmental projects and the political nucleus of Western Nigeria.”

Present at the occasion were Senior Chief Adewuyi Odunade, Chief Olufemi Ogunwale Olibota, the Aare Ago Olubadan of Ibadanland, and other dignitaries.
