2027: Reps deputy spokesman backs Tinubu with new mobilisation group

The Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, has launched a new cross-party political mobilisation network backing President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027.

The organisation, known as the Renewed Hope Labourers Network, said it would mobilise workers and grassroots supporters across Nigeria’s 176,846 polling units in support of the president’s re-election bid.

Agbese, who hails form Benue State and is a member of theLabour Party, is the Founder and Coordinating Director-General of the network.

The launch places the lawmaker at the head of a political structure whose immediate objective is to build support for Tinubu beyond conventional party structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Agbese said the initiative was driven by conviction in Tinubu’s economic reform agenda rather than partisan considerations.

“We are a people ready to work for President Tinubu across the 176,846 polling units in Nigeria. This is not about party. It is about belief in the leadership and philosophy of President Tinubu.

“Every polling unit in this country is important, and in every one of them, there are labourers who believe in what the president is doing for the nation,” the statement quoted Agbese as saying.

The lawmaker said RHOLAN would combine technology with traditional grassroots mobilisation to establish a direct link between the presidency and voters at the polling-unit level.

According to him, the organisation will use data and digital platforms to identify, engage and organise supporters while communicating what it described as the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

“Our mobilisation and networking will be the first of its kind in the history of this country. We will use technology to connect directly with grassroots people, showcase the President’s achievements in clear and practical terms, and secure the genuine buy-in of the most neglected segments of our society,” he said.

He added that the group would not restrict its activities to state capitals or party offices, arguing that political mobilisation must extend to communities where ordinary Nigerians live and work.

“The ordinary labourer in the market, on the farm, at the construction site and in the informal sector must see and feel the progress,” he stressed.

Agbese identified fiscal reforms, infrastructure development, agriculture, power, roads and social investment as areas where he believes the administration’s policies could create opportunities for workers and low-income Nigerians.

He acknowledged that some of the reforms had imposed short-term difficulties but argued that continuity was necessary to allow them to produce their intended results.

“President Tinubu has chosen the difficult but necessary path of resetting the economy so that it can work for the many rather than the few. We believe that when the foundations are made strong, the Labourer in the remotest polling unit will eventually feel the difference in his pocket, in his children’s school and in the security of his community”, he said.

The network said its campaign would focus on explaining the administration’s reforms to voters while countering narratives it considers dismissive of their potential long-term benefits.

Agbese said the decision to support Tinubu’s re-election was also based on the need to consolidate reforms already initiated by the administration.

He argued that a change of direction midway through the reform process could undermine the gains being recorded, insisting that a second term would give the government an opportunity to deepen and institutionalise its policies.

“The reforms, if given the chance to mature, can rewrite the story of the Nigerian labourer. We believe his reforms, if given the chance to mature, will rewrite the story of the Nigerian labourer,” he argued.

He added that RHOLAN would organise, educate and mobilise supporters from its Abuja headquarters through structures being established across the country.

Agbese said the group’s ultimate objective was to make grassroots Nigerians active participants in the political process rather than treating them merely as election-day voters. “Technology will help us map, engage and organise Labourers who have long been treated as voting statistics rather than as partners in national progress,” he said.

For Agbese, however, the emphasis is on taking the pro-Tinubu message beyond established political structures and into the country’s polling units. “We are not here for politics as usual. We are here because we believe in the leadership and philosophy of President Bola Tinubu. From our headquarters in Abuja and through the structures we are building across all 176,846 polling units, RHOLAN will organise, educate and mobilise,” he said.
