2027: Law Enforcement Guarantees Total Protection for Electoral Commission in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has underscored its dedication to collaborating with the Independent National Electoral Commission in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections, with the aim of ensuring that the polls in the state are both peaceful and credible.

This assurance was contained in a statement released on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, which followed a courtesy visit by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission to the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, received the INEC delegation, which was led by the Lagos State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Abayomi Salami, as part of the visit.

During the meeting, Salami extended congratulations to the police commissioner on his recent appointment and requested that the command provide sustained collaboration and support as preparations for the 2027 general elections commence.

The statement from the police noted that the INEC delegation, led by Prof Abayomi Salami, congratulated the CP on his appointment and sought the continued collaboration and support of the Command as the 2027 General Elections draw near.

The electoral body emphasized the necessity of strong cooperation with security agencies to ensure that elections across Lagos State are peaceful, free, fair, and credible.

CP Fatai, in his response, highlighted the significance of collaboration among institutions in bolstering democratic governance and fostering public confidence in the electoral process.

The police commissioner reaffirmed the readiness of the Lagos State Police Command to provide adequate security support and respond positively to all lawful requests by INEC in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

Furthermore, CP Fatai stressed the importance of inter-agency cooperation in maintaining peace and order before, during, and after elections in the state.
