2027: Group begins grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu in Ondo

The Asiwaju Mandate Group has commenced fresh grassroots mobilisation across Ondo State, with its leadership pledging sustained engagement with political stakeholders and residents ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group made this known in a statement on Friday after it held simultaneous meetings across the 18 local government areas of the state.

The meetings brought together members of AMG, leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, as well as former political office holders and other participants.

Speaking on the exercise, the Director-General of AMG, Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla, said the group was committed to maintaining regular contact with the grassroots.

Asagunla said, “Continuous engagement is necessary to maintain a strong and effective grassroots organisation.”

He noted that political mobilisation should not be limited to election periods, stressing that regular interaction with members, stakeholders and communities was essential.

According to him, “The simultaneous meetings were also intended to strengthen coordination across the 18 local governments, listen to issues from the grassroots and ensure that information about the policies and programmes of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration continues to reach the people.”

The AMG director-general said the group was working to build a structure capable of engaging different segments of society, including youths, students and women.

He added, “The task ahead requires AMG to do even more, particularly as the 2027 election approaches,” stressing that the group would intensify its mobilisation and engagement activities.

Asagunla said AMG was seeking to secure the re-election of Tinubu, adding that the achievements and reforms of the administration made it necessary for the group to expand its grassroots outreach and communicate its message more effectively across the state.

He said the strength of any political organisation ultimately depended on its ability to maintain meaningful connections with people at the ward and local government levels.

The meetings were attended by AMG members, APC leaders and stakeholders across the 18 local government areas, including former members of the National Assembly and State House of Assembly.

According to the statement, former senators, former leaders of other political parties who had defected to the APC and other political stakeholders also participated in the meetings.

The participants discussed AMG’s activities, grassroots coordination and strategies for sustaining engagement with the public as the 2027 elections draw closer.
