2027: Cross River State Sports Commission Launches Advocacy Team for Tinubu, Otu

The Cross River State Sports Commission has launched the "Sport Community Support Group", a grassroots support group aimed at mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu's re-election bid in 2027.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to rally support across various platforms, mobilise grassroots participation, and secure a landslide victory in the 2027 general elections.

Lawrence Etta, the Sports Commission Chairman, commended the support group members during the inauguration ceremony in Calabar on Friday, describing them as crucial to effective grassroots mobilisation.

Etta reaffirmed the group's commitment to supporting President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu's re-election bid, highlighting its role in securing Nigeria's economic stability, youth empowerment, and long-term national development.

He urged the group members to remain focused, organised, and proactive in their engagement efforts, stating that the future of Nigeria and the safety of its children's tomorrow depend on the work done today.

Etta emphasised the importance of unity, discipline, and commitment, saying "We have work to do, let us remain united, disciplined, and committed".

Etta also stressed that sport is a national and global unifier, capable of bringing people together across ethnic, religious, and ideological divides, and urged the support group members to carry out this evangelism for President Tinubu and Governor Otu's re-election.

He called on members to promote the achievements of the federal and state governments in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the People's First Mantra of Governor Bassey Otu.

Etta instructed the group members and Vice Chairmen of the 18 local government councils to intensify efforts in promoting government policies and programmes, with the primary objective of strengthening the support base for the leaders.

Director General of the commission, Hon. Obi Akan, lauded the state government's efforts and highlighted the importance of positioning grassroots coordinators as part of a deliberate political strategy.

Akan expressed his gratitude to the Cross River State government for the trust placed in them and pledged to unite with other coordinators to commence robust mobilisation and rally support for President Tinubu and Governor Otu's return to office.

The newly appointed members of the support group include Director General, Hon. Obi Akan; Secretary, Hon. Christina Eso; Financial Secretary, Hon. Emilia Katame; Treasurer, Hon. Cecilia Ogar; Publicity Secretary and Director of Media, Hon. Ekuma Ngwu; Welfare Officer, Hon. Rhoda Ashong; Organising Secretary, Mr. Sunny Ndep Ebam; Director of Contact and Mobilisation, Hon. Joseph Ukata; Member, Hon. Chris Effiom; and all Vice Chairmen of Council as Local Government Coordinators.
