2027: APC reopens e-registration nationwide

The All Progressives Congress has announced the re-opening of its electronic membership registration exercise nationwide, beginning August 31, 2026, as the ruling party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The party said the exercise would take place across all wards in the country, covering both existing and prospective members, with current members expected to validate their records and new entrants invited to formally register with the party.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the exercise was aimed at building a reliable and digitally managed membership register ahead of the 2027 elections.

Morka urged party stakeholders, supporters and members to participate in the exercise, stressing that the initiative would strengthen the party’s organisational structure and improve its ability to plan and manage its affairs.

“The e-registration exercise is designed to digitise the party’s membership register, ensure the integrity of membership records, enhance efficient access to membership data for planning and management decisions, promote internal democracy, and strengthen the party’s commitment to democratic innovation in Nigeria,” Morka said.

The ruling party said participation would be open to Nigerians aged 18 and above who possess a valid National Identification Number, making the identification requirement a key component of the registration process.

The re-opening comes at a politically significant period as parties begin preparations for the 2027 general election.

For the APC, which controls the Federal Government and several state governments, an accurate membership database could play an important role in internal party administration, mobilisation and the conduct of future party activities.

The exercise is also expected to provide the party with an updated picture of its membership strength across the country’s wards, while helping to eliminate inaccuracies and duplication associated with manually maintained membership records.

Existing members will, therefore, be required to validate their details rather than simply assume that their previous registration remains sufficient, while intending members can use the exercise as an entry point into the party.

The APC’s decision to emphasise electronic registration also reflects the growing role of digital systems in political party administration, particularly in the management of large membership structures ahead of elections.

The party called on its stakeholders and supporters to take advantage and participate in strengthening the APC’s membership structure nationwide.
