Zamfara Enhances Disaster Readiness with Introduction of New Fire Engines

The Zamfara State government yesterday boosted its emergency response mechanisms by distributing eight firefighting trucks to some local government areas across the state.

Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Lawal Barau Bungudu, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr. Amiru Musa Anka, officially received the eight firefighting vehicles from the Secretary to the State Government for onward disbursement to the local government fire service stations.

The handover forms part of the Zamfara State Government’s commitment to strengthening emergency response services, improving fire safety, and enhancing the capacity of local authorities to protect lives and property.

Receiving the firefighting vehicles on behalf of the commissioner, Engr. Anka expressed appreciation to the Zamfara State Government for the initiative, describing it as a significant step towards improving fire prevention and emergency response services across the state.

He stated that the firefighting vehicles would be distributed to the designated local government Areas to ensure timely response to fire outbreaks and other emergencies, particularly in underserved communities.

He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting government policies and initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives and property through improved public infrastructure and emergency services.

Mr Anka also commended the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Malan Aminu Almajir, for his commitment and efforts in coordinating the successful handover of the firefighting vehicles, describing the gesture as a demonstration of the state government’s dedication to improving emergency response services and promoting public safety across the state.

He further conveyed the appreciation of the commissioner for works to Governor Dauda Lawal for prioritising public safety and strengthening emergency response capacity across the state.
