Zamfara begins hiring of 3,050 primary school teachers

The Zamfara State government opened an online application portal to recruit 3,050 additional basic school teachers.

This was revealed in a public announcement signed by the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Maryam Yahaya Shantali, at the weekend.

She said the online application starts on July 2, 2026 and closes on July 16, 2026.

The public announcement said applications submitted after the closing date will not be accepted.

Some of the eligibility requirements mentioned include that applicants must be indigenes of Zamfara State; must be between 18 and 35 years of age; and must possess at least the minimum teaching qualifications prescribed for the position, including NCE, B.Ed., B.Sc. (Ed.), B.A. (Ed.), or B.Sc./B.A. with PGDE, as applicable.

All applicants must also possess a TRCN Certificate or evidence of registration, NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate, and be willing to accept posting to any part of the state, including rural communities.

The applicants must upload all required documents, including academic certificates, certificate of indigene, birth certificate or declaration of age, valid means of identification, passport photograph, and other prescribed documents.

The permanent secretary said priority will be given to qualified teachers in critical subject areas, including: English Language, Mathematics, Basic Science and Technology, Agricultural Science, Computer Science/Digital Literacy, Social Studies/Citizenship Studies, Physical and Health Education.

Other priority areas include Nigerian History, Culture and Creative Arts, Home Economics, Arabic Language, Early Childhood Care Development Education (ECCDE), Primary Education Studies (PES), Islamic Studies, and Hausa Language.

Applicants were also advised to pay a non-refundable application fee of N1,000 only through the Pay Zamfara platform integrated into the online application portal.

“Only applicants who satisfy the approved eligibility requirements and successfully pass the automated online screening will be shortlisted for the Computer-Based Test (CBT),” the circular said.

It was also warned that submission of multiple applications, presentation of false information or forged documents, failure to meet the minimum qualification requirements, incomplete documentation, or refusal to accept rural posting shall result in automatic disqualification.
