Nollywood actor-turned-politician Yul Edochie has ignited a firestorm of controversy with his scathing criticism of Igbos who disparage their own for backing President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid.

In a provocative post on X on Saturday, Edochie unleashed a withering rebuke against these critics, lambasting their hypocrisy.

Edochie's post included a fiery statement, in which he labeled any Igbo person who condemns their fellow Igbo for supporting President Tinubu as "a monkey and a coward".

He contended that critics of the president's supporters from the South-East region frequently apply a double standard, failing to hold individuals from other regions to the same level of scrutiny.

Edochie posed a series of rhetorical questions, challenging his detractors to produce evidence of their criticism of other groups, such as Yorubas, Northerners, past leaders, and Northern celebrities who support President Tinubu.

His statement, "Show me a video of you dragging Yorubas who are supporting TINUBU, Show me a video of you dragging Northerners who are supporting Tinubu, Show me a video of you dragging all the past leaders who couldn’t fix Nigeria, Show me a video of you dragging Northern celebrities that support Tinubu, None," drove home his point about the perceived hypocrisy.

Notably, President Tinubu's "City Boy" movement has already started gaining momentum across the country, including in the South-East, where influential figures like Obi Cubana are said to be spearheading local efforts.
