World Cup 2026: Adidas unveils official match ball for semifinals, final

With less than two weeks remaining until the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, adidas has unveiled the official match ball that will be used for the tournament’s final four matches.

The special-edition Trionda will feature in both semi-finals, the third-place playoff and the World Cup final, replacing the version used during the earlier stages of the competition.

While the original Trionda celebrated the tournament’s three co-hosts — Mexico, Canada and the United States — with a bold green, red and blue colour palette, the new edition adopts a more understated White/Black/Gold Metallic design inspired by the iconic FIFA World Cup Trophy.

The ball also pays tribute to the tournament’s journey by featuring the names of host cities that have staged matches involving some of football’s biggest stars, including Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé and Cristiano Ronaldo. New York and New Jersey, where the World Cup final will be played at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, July 19, are also prominently referenced in the design.

The unveiling comes as the tournament enters its decisive stage, with the quarter-final line-up beginning to take shape.

Several of the pre-tournament favourites remain in contention for the title, including France, Spain, Portugal, England and Argentina, although the two finalists who will battle for football’s biggest prize are yet to be determined.
