Woman deceives companion into meeting where her partner awaits to fatally attack and dismember the victim.

A man known as Ofofon and his girlfriend were taken into custody by the police on Tuesday, accused of murdering the girlfriend's friend and selling her body parts, in a shocking turn of events.

The suspect, originally from Ini Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, but currently residing at Afokang by Jebbs Street in Calabar South, allegedly killed and dismembered the victim, before delivering the body parts to buyers under the cover of night.

According to eyewitnesses, the girlfriend, who works at a chemist, had invited one of her friends to spend the night at their residence, where the duo allegedly carried out the heinous crime, hoping that an impending rain would wash away the evidence, but the rain never came.

The following morning, neighbours discovered blood flowing from a pipe in the apartment, leading to the drain, and immediately alerted the authorities, suspecting that something was amiss, as recounted by Theresa, a local resident, to Vanguard.

Theresa revealed that a minibus, owned by the suspect, had arrived at around 2.00 am to pick him up, presumably to deliver the body parts, and later returned him to the residence, with the vehicle being one of three mini buses owned by the man.

The girlfriend allegedly claimed that she had been locked in a room by Ofofon before the murder took place, although this statement may have been an attempt to distance herself from the crime, according to Theresa.

Ofofon has a history of suspicious behaviour, having previously been involved in a ritual attempt using his own mother, which backfired, prompting her to leave and settle at State Avenue, a short distance away, where she no longer visits him, and he also has three children from a previous marriage, whose mother took them away and left him a long time ago.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, confirmed that the couple had been arrested on suspicion of murder, with an investigation currently underway.
