Wike's faction disputes allegations of power struggle within PDP following Supreme Court verdict

A faction within the Peoples Democratic Party, aligned with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, has disputed claims of a leadership void in the party following a recent Supreme Court judgment.

This judgment, according to the group's National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, did not strip any party officials of their positions or alter the existing leadership framework.

Mohammed clarified that the ruling centered on a disputed party convention and did not delve into matters concerning the appointment, suspension, or removal of party officers.

The judgment, he emphasized, did not impact the current leadership of the party, instead addressing specific issues presented before the court and cautioning against misinterpretation.

He reiterated that the PDP leadership remains in place, with the National Chairman and National Secretary continuing to function in accordance with party processes.

Mohammed also refuted suggestions that the party's Board of Trustees had taken control of its affairs, stating that the party's constitution does not grant the Board such powers.

He noted that while there are differing views among stakeholders regarding recent developments, these differences do not constitute a leadership breakdown.
