Wike validates employment of 1,659 FCTA staff hired in 2016 and 2019

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has given his approval for the confirmation of 1,659 workers who were employed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration in 2016 and 2019.

Emeka Ezeh, Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, made this announcement through a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, in Abuja on Sunday.

The confirmed workers are part of the 2,281 individuals who took the confirmation examination administered by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, according to Ezeh.

Some of the workers who participated in the confirmation examination had been employed as early as 2016 and 2019, while others were hired shortly before Wike took office in August 2023.

A total of 2,512 candidates were invited to take the confirmation examination, but only 2,281 actually showed up, with 224 officers being absent, raising suspicions that they might be ghost workers.

The FCT Civil Service Commission, as stated by Ezeh, has also made plans to conduct the 2025 and 2026 promotions, as approved by the Minister, in line with President Bola Tinubu's commitment to renewing the hope of the FCTA workforce.

Ezeh advised the workers to visit the Commission's website at www.fctcsc.abj.gov.ng to verify the status of their names.
