Wike recreates diverse alliance in Abuja to promote effective administration

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has introduced the Rivers' Rainbow Coalition initiative in the FCT, aiming to provide effective governance to residents in the area councils. This initiative is designed to deliver good governance to the people in the area councils.

Wike made this announcement while meeting with the newly elected Chairmen of FCT Area Councils, who visited him in Abuja on Wednesday to present their Certificates of Return issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of their swearing-in in June.

The Minister congratulated the chairmen on their victory in the February 21 FCT area council elections, urging them to prioritize good governance and cooperation for the benefit of the people. He emphasized the importance of working together, regardless of party affiliations, to achieve this goal.

Under the Rainbow Coalition initiative, Wike plans to bring together chairmen and councillors from the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party to work towards the development of FCT residents. This collaboration is expected to foster effective governance in the territory.

According to Wike, the key to successful governance in the FCT is cooperation among leaders, despite their political differences. He stressed that the focus should be on working together, rather than being divided by party affiliations.

Wike expressed his gratitude to the newly elected chairmen, saying "No matter the party, what is important is that we work together. Since I came as minister, we have always worked together in the city, and that is why we have continued to achieve results."

He also acknowledged the support given to the candidates by Mr President, stating "By the grace of God, you have worked hard and emerged victorious, and we thank God for the opportunity given to you to serve."

Wike further explained that the Rainbow Coalition in the FCT would include candidates who supported Mr President, as well as those from other parties who are supporting Tinubu. He emphasized the importance of unity in achieving good governance.

Wike assured the chairmen that the FCT Administration would partner with them once they assume office in June, urging them to prepare for the responsibilities ahead. He advised them to begin working together to move the councils forward as soon as they are sworn in.

The Minister reminded the chairmen that the support they received from Mr President comes with the expectation of reciprocating with good governance for the people. He encouraged them to prioritize the needs of their constituents.

Wike also took the opportunity to congratulate the outgoing council chairmen, wishing them success in their future endeavors. He expressed his appreciation for their service and dedication to the people of the FCT.
