Senator Tinubu has been married to President Bola Tinubu, a Muslim, for almost 40 years, and remarkably, she cannot recall a single instance where they raised their voices at each other.

The First Lady made these remarks while hosting an Interfaith Breaking of Fast, which brought together adherents of Christianity and Islam, as well as wives of state governors, at the Old Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

She emphasized the importance of religious groups coexisting peacefully and the vital role women play in shaping the younger generation, serving as role models for them to emulate.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu urged women leaders to embody excellence, compassion, and integrity, particularly during the overlapping Ramadan and Lenten observances, as a means to counter insecurity and division.

Drawing from her nearly four-decade interfaith marriage to President Bola Tinubu, Senator Tinubu preached the importance of religious harmony and peaceful coexistence.

She described the day of the event as a great day, ordained by God, where women from diverse backgrounds could gather together, highlighting the significance of unity amidst the country's religious diversity.

Senator Tinubu addressed the rising tensions in the country, which have been fueled by religious differences, stating that Nigerians know that most of the time, these tensions are not truly about religious beliefs.

She shared her personal experience of being married to a man of a different faith for almost 40 years, during which time they have lived together in harmony, with minimal disagreements.

Senator Tinubu attributed their peaceful coexistence to maturity and respect for each other, serving as an example for others to follow.

She cautioned against the "entitlement" mentality, emphasizing that having a fear of God is essential, as stated in the Bible, "the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom."

Senator Tinubu advised women to mentor the younger generation, passing on valuable intelligence and wisdom to them, as they have a significant role to play in shaping the country's future.

Prof. Ganiyat Adejoke Adesina-Uthman, Director at the National Open University of Nigeria, spoke about the "crisis of trust" in public office, stressing that integrity is non-negotiable, particularly when serving with excellence, compassion, and integrity.
