What Took Me to Edo – Eedris Abdulkareem Explains

Nigerian singer, rapper, and 'Jagajaga' crooner Eedris Abdulkareem, who is currently in Benin City, revealed on Tuesday that his observations of Governor Monday Okpebholo's efforts would soon be translated into a song after concluding his visit.

Abdulkareem's visit to the state was prompted by the closure of an event center where he was scheduled to perform, an incident that also led him to criticize President Bola Tinubu's administration.

During his tour of various parts of the state, Abdulkareem was accompanied by Edo Commissioner for Information and Communication, Prince Kasim Afegbua, and witnessed several projects, including the Sepele Road Flyover at Adesuwa Junction and road construction at NEPA Junction, Sapele Road.

Other projects visited by Abdulkareem included the Ramat Park Flyover and road projects at Temboga, among others, which gave him a firsthand look at the state's development efforts.

Abdulkareem announced plans to return to Edo State for a three-week stay, during which he would explore more projects and feature them in an upcoming musical video.

Despite not considering himself a praise singer, Abdulkareem expressed his willingness to honestly portray what he has seen in the state, stating that he has witnessed Governor Okpebholo's accomplishments and would convey this through his music.

He reflected on his 25-year-old song 'Jagajaga', noting that even former President Olusegun Obasanjo has become an advocate for the same cause, and emphasized that his music serves as a means of expression.

Currently in Abia State for the past two months, Abdulkareem is working on a music documentary for Governor Alex Otti and will resume his Edo State project upon completion.

Abdulkareem assured that his music would reflect both the positive and negative aspects of what he experiences, and expressed his belief that the Edo State government is on the right track.

He chose not to elaborate further, preferring to let his music speak for itself, and invited everyone to await the release of his upcoming music video showcasing Edo State's development.

Abdulkareem took the opportunity to express his gratitude to Governor Monday Okpebholo for listening to the people's voices and driving the state's development, and looked forward to capturing his Edo State experiences in a musical video.
