Wealthy businessman and Davido's dad gives Osun Security Trust Fund a half-billion naira boost

Adedeji Adeleke, the father of renowned Afrobeat star Davido, has made a substantial donation of N500 million to Osun State's security trust fund, a gesture that underscores his commitment to the state's wellbeing.

This significant contribution was announced by Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, following Governor Ademola Adeleke's launch of the security trust fund in the state capital on Thursday, an event that highlighted the previous administration's neglect of the initiative.

The governor took the opportunity to reveal plans for the distribution of refurbished Armoured Personnel Carriers and new patrol vehicles, reaffirming his administration's dedication to maintaining Osun's reputation as one of Nigeria's most peaceful states.

According to Governor Adeleke, the decision to revive the security trust fund was driven by the need to update the law and address the state's security challenges, emphasizing that "a security trust fund is a matter of necessity, considering the security climate in Nigeria and Osun State."

The governor stressed that the initiative is not politically motivated, but rather a necessary measure to ensure the safety of the people, citing the successful implementation of similar public-private partnerships in states like Lagos, Kaduna, and River.

He noted that the Fund is designed to provide sustainable funding for modern security infrastructure, including the establishment of a modern Situation Room with real-time CCTV surveillance and the provision of operational tools for security agencies.

Teslim Igbalaye, who also serves as the deputy chairman of the trust fund, explained that the fund aims to provide critical security infrastructure, such as operational vehicles, modern communication gadgets, and surveillance systems, to enhance intelligence gathering and rapid response by security agencies.

Despite the relative peace in Osun State, Igbalaye emphasized the need for sustained support to security agencies, particularly in light of rising security concerns in other parts of the country.
