Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents of the state to vote massively in the August 15 governorship election, declaring that his administration would not allow the All Progressives Congress (APC) to return the state to what he described as a period when civil servants had to beg their neighbours for food.

Adeleke made the appeal in a post on his official X handle on Thursday, where he called on eligible voters to defend what he described as the state’s progress by supporting his administration at the polls.

The governor alleged that the previous APC administration “weaponised poverty” by paying workers half salaries and leaving many civil servants unable to adequately provide for their families.

“I call on the good people of Osun State to brace up for just a few more days,” Adeleke wrote.

“Those who once weaponised poverty by paying workers half salaries, leaving civil servants to struggle to feed their families, and denying our people access to basic necessities are desperate to return to inflict more pain.

n

“We must never go back to those dark days.”

Adeleke urged voters to use the August 15 election to reaffirm their support for what he described as the path of progress, compassion and good governance.

“On August 15, I urge every eligible voter to send a clear and resounding message that Osun has chosen the path of progress, compassion and good governance.

n

“Together, we will protect the mandate of the people and keep Osun moving forward accordingly,” he said.

The governor’s remarks come as political campaigns intensify ahead of the August 15 governorship election, in which he is seeking a second term in office.
