VIS impounds 38 buses over illegal BRI operations

nLAGOS — The Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service, VIS, has impounded 38 buses for allegedly operating illegally under the Bus Reform Initiative, BRI.
nThe vehicles were apprehended for operating under the BRI programme without the required licences and official approval from the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA.
nAccording to information from the Information Department of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation at the weekend, the buses were intercepted while operating along the Island route, from Ajah to Sura.
nThe enforcement exercise is part of the state government’s efforts to ensure compliance with approved regulations governing commercial transportation.
nThe government consequently urged all commercial transport operators to comply strictly with approved transport regulations.
nIt warned that operators found violating the regulations would face appropriate sanctions.
