Villager killed in brutal attack amid claims of illicit relationship with someone else's wife in Kano

A 30-year-old man, Abubakar Auwal, lost his life after allegedly being beaten by a group of people who accused him of having an affair with a married woman in Kano State.

The incident took place on July 24 in the Sheka area of Kano, prompting the Kano State Police Command to arrest three suspects in connection with the incident.

According to CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command's spokesperson, the victim was lured by 40-year-old Abubakar Ali and 27-year-old Sulaiman Lawan, who accused him of being involved with Ali's wife.

The police received a report of the incident at around 12:00 p.m. and immediately deployed officers from the Sheka Police Division to the scene, where they found the victim brutally assaulted and beaten into a comatose state.

Upon arrival, the police arrested three suspects, including Abubakar Ali, Sulaiman Lawan, and 22-year-old Hafsat Umar, the married woman at the center of the allegations, all of whom are from the same area.

The victim was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano for treatment, but was later confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, and his body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

Police investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court once the investigation is concluded, according to the police statement.

The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, condemned the killing and warned residents against taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing that the Nigeria Police Force is empowered to investigate and prosecute offenders through due process.

The commissioner assured residents that the command will conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the case, ensuring that those responsible are prosecuted in accordance with the law.
