A Nigerian woman serving in the United States Army has appealed to President Donald Trump to intervene in a visa dispute preventing her 10-year-old daughter from joining her in the US.

The woman said her daughter is critically ill and requires urgent medical attention that she believes is difficult to access in Nigeria.

She made the appeal in a video posted on TikTok, saying she had been separated from her daughter for about 10 years and feared she could lose her before they have the opportunity to reunite.

She said she had taken an oath to serve the United States and remained compliant with the country’s laws, but was now seeking Trump’s intervention as a mother desperate to save her child.

“Please do not scroll. I’m at the verge of losing my daughter. They said social media is powerful, and this is my last resort.”

According to the woman, her daughter had completed the necessary immigration process but remained unable to travel to the US because of current visa restrictions.

She said the child became critically ill while the family waited for the immigration process to be completed, increasing her concern over the girl’s access to adequate medical care.

“I’m not just speaking as a soldier; I’m speaking as a mother whose heart is gradually breaking. I have been separated from my daughter for the past 10 years, and she remains in Nigeria,” she said.

“Every day that passes by increases my fear that I might lose her before having the chance to hold her again and reunite with her.”

The US Army member acknowledged the importance of immigration laws and national security but urged the government to consider her circumstances on humanitarian grounds.

“My plea now is not about politics but a humanitarian one, a compassionate one that you should review carefully and consider. I’m simply asking that there should be an exception for me and for people that fall into this category,” she said.

She also questioned why she should remain in the US, where she said her daughter could have access to better healthcare, while the child remains critically ill in Nigeria.

“How can I be in a country that has quality healthcare and let my daughter die?” she asked.

She disclosed that she had contacted her commander and US Senator Amy Klobuchar for help, saying the senator attempted to intervene but was informed that the immigration process was proceeding as expected.

“I’ve reached out to my commander and Senator Amy Klobuchar. She tried her best, and they told her everything is going as planned. But your visa process and policies are keeping my children from reuniting with me,” she said.

She further said she could not return to Nigeria because of security concerns, arguing that her children should not be viewed as a threat to the United States.

“My kids are barely minors that can’t pose a threat and are not coming here to be criminals,” she said.

She subsequently appealed to social media users to share the video and tag Trump, saying she had turned to social media after exhausting other options.

“I never thought a day would come that I would be facing the camera and pleading. Dear Mr President, please help me reunite with my daughter,” she said.
