Vanguard Awards: Tunji-Ojo praises Tinubu over achievements at Interior Ministry

Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has attributed his success to the leadership and support of President Bola Tinubu, dedicating his Vanguard Personality of the Year Award to the president, citing his guidance as the driving force behind his achievements in office.

The award was presented to Tunji-Ojo on Friday night at the 2025 Vanguard Personality of the Year Awards ceremony, which took place at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, and was handed over by former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba.

This marks the second time Tunji-Ojo has received the prestigious honour, and in his acceptance speech, he expressed his gratitude to God Almighty and President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and for providing a conducive environment that has enabled his performance.

Tunji-Ojo stated that the award is a testament to the president's leadership, encouragement, and support, which have allowed him to innovate and make a meaningful impact, and he acknowledged that the recognition is not just a personal achievement but also a tribute to the president's vision and guidance.

The minister vowed to continue striving for excellence, describing the award as a work in progress and an invitation to do more, and he reaffirmed the Ministry of Interior's commitment to upholding the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration in its operations.

This year's awards saw Tunji-Ojo and Alhaji Sayyu Idris Dantata, Founder and Chairman of MRS Holdings, share top honours, with Tunji-Ojo being recognized for his contributions to public service and Dantata for his impact on the energy sector.

Other notable awardees included Dr. Osahon Okunbo, who was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and Jim Ovia, Bishop Matthew Kukah, Vincent Maduka, Jim Nwobodo, and Bruce Onobrakpeya, who all received Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Festus Keyamo was honoured as Public Sector Icon of the Year, while Mrs. Vicky Haastrup was recognized as Woman Entrepreneur of the Year, and Dr. Stephen Akintayo and Alfred Temile were also celebrated for their contributions to business and real estate.

Six state governors were recognized for their exemplary leadership, including Uba Sani of Kaduna, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Bassey Otu of Cross River, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara.
